RE: Needed: An Easy Menu for Many

I would make the Easy Chicken Cordon Bleu (layered in large pans and served like lasagne), garlic mashed potatoes, curried broccoli salad, glazed carrots, fresh buns and "death by chocolate" cake for dessert. Much of the prep work can be done a day ahead and then you will have time to enjoy yourself. Snowflake, just let me know when you will be serving this dinner, and I'll be there!! Sounds delish!!! RE: Pasta n' More?

A local TV personality featured this on "Does It Work?" this week, and she cooked pasta, chicken, and broccoli, then added them all together, and gave it a check mark for "yes, it does work." If I remember correctly, she was impressed with it.

RE: Needed: An Easy Menu for Many

Order six foot long bread from the deli at Wal-Mart, and purchase all the meats, cheeses, etc. for six foot long subs. Serve with potato salad and beans, or chips and dips. Sounds like a fun evening!!

RE: College football - week 11

RE: Locals' recipe for Key Lime Pie (5 ingredients)

I don't mean to hijack your thread, but my question is along the same line -- sorta. What is the difference in key limes and regular limes? I've noticed that key limes are much smaller, but since I've never bought key limes, I don't know if they taste different. Thanks, Vickie

RE: Palomino quality standing

DD and SIL have a Palomino Mustang that is less than 1.5 years old, and it has been back to the dealer more than it has been in their driveway since they have had it. I can't even remember all the problems they have had with it, but many. Vickie

Help!! I've searched everywhere I can think of!!

Within the last couple of days, I saw (don't know what forum topic I saw it on, or I would go to that one) a deck someone had made for his RV, to aid his wheel-chair bound daughter in accessing their RV easier. I have searched the mods thread, the handy hints/gizmos thread, and every topic I can think of, and still haven't found it. I was telling DH about the deck so that maybe he would take the hint and build one for us, but I can't find it to show him. I am really getting frustrated!! Can anyone help me? Thanks, Vickie

RE: Trying to find a glass cleaner that WORKS!!!

I use alcohol in a spray bottle, and clean with an old cloth diaper. This works better than anything else I have ever tried. I have the tilt-in windows (top and bottom windows) and clean windows every time I clean house. I never cleaned windows as much before we had this type windows installed. Now, there's really no excuse NOT to have clean windows. DRAT!! Wish I'd thought of that BEFORE they were installed!! lol Vickie

RE: What addition to pancakes?

Mix into the batter Raisins and cinnamon...or chopped maraschino cherries with tiny chocolate chips. Top plain pancakes with a strawberry/bannana mix. I don't like raisins, but I LOVE Craisins (dried cranberries). I'd never thought about adding those to pancake/waffle batter, but I'll bet it is delicious. I'll have to try it soon. Thanks for the idea!! OH!!! When topping the pancakes with the strawberry/banana mix, add a dollop of cream cheese/powdered sugar mixture like you use for crepes. You could have an inside out crepe, of sorts. Again, thanks for the idea I'll have to try!! Vickie

RE: Retirement

I retired about 7 years ago at age 49 (after about 14 years as a Ministry Assistant), and DH retired 2.5 years ago at age 57, after 36 years with the U.S. Postal Service, plus 2 years Army. Vickie

RE: Under age drinking?

My kids started to drink wine at the family table when they were 12 or 13.) My daughter just turned 11, and I can't imagine letting her drink at the family table. Her birth mother "gave" her the "gift" of FAE (fetal alcohol effects). DD also suffers from ADHD, and makes enough questionable choices without the aid of alcohol. We talk to her about abstaining from any alcohol or drugs because we don't know what her predisposition to those drugs will be -- better to just stay completely away from them than risk what "could" happen if she tries either/both even "just once." We are not fuddy-duddies, we just choose not to drink -- even though DH and I did party some in our 20s (we are now late and mid-50s). Vickie
